Armenian Modernism: To Be or Not to Be

  • Date: October 24
  • Time: 15:00
  • Location: VERNATOUN powered by Keron

Ahead of the 2808th anniversary of Erebuni – Yerevan, VERNATOUN invites you to a conversation on Armenian modernist architecture, its legacy, the landmarks that have survived, and the question of what their future should be.

The discussion will bring together Karen Balyan, professor and expert in the history of modernism, and architect Arev Samuelyan. The conversation will explore the cultural and architectural value of Armenian modernism, the role it has played in shaping Yerevan’s urban identity, and the choices the city faces today when it comes to preservation, transformation, and development.

Together, we will reflect on what deserves to be protected, how these buildings can remain relevant in a changing city.
